Richard Strauss's operatic masterpiece Der Rosenkavalier (Le Chevalier ร la rose) returns to Montreal for the first time in over thirty years, presented in concert version as a co-production between Opรฉra de Montrรฉal and the Orchestre Mรฉtropolitain. The work is celebrated for its nostalgic Viennese waltzes and Mozartian comedy, wrapped in music of extraordinary elegance and expressivity.
Conductor Yannick Nรฉzet-Sรฉguin leads an exceptional international cast: Diana Damrau (soprano) as the Marschallin, Emily D'Angelo (mezzo-soprano) as Octavian, Erin Morley (soprano) as Sophie, Peter Rose (bass) as Baron Ochs, and Thomas Ebenstein (tenor) as Valzacchi. The Orchestre Mรฉtropolitain provides orchestral support.
